Mr. CHHIM Sopheak
English Lecturer CHHIM SOPHEAK emerges as a highly accomplished and dedicated professional with a strong foundation in both education and public administration.
His academic journey, marked by advanced degrees including a Master of Public Policy from South Korea and a Master of Education in TESOL from Cambodia, provides a robust background for his diverse roles. This dual expertise is evident in his career trajectory.
CHHIM SOPHEAK has a long and extensive history as a lecturer, having taught a broad range of courses at multiple prominent Cambodian universities for many years, including the University of Cambodia since September 2006, Pannasastra University of Cambodia since August 2012, Western University since May 2008, the Royal University of Law and Economics since October 2008, and more recently, Acleda University of Business since December 2022. The sheer variety of subjects taught, spanning English language skills, literature, cultural studies, public speaking, and business communication, underscores his versatility and depth of knowledge. His earlier experience as a high school English teacher and a volunteer teacher also highlights his commitment to education at various levels.
Beyond the classroom, CHHIM SOPHEAK has taken on significant administrative responsibilities as the Head of the Department of English at the National Institute of Social Affairs since October 2018. In this leadership role, he is responsible for crucial functions such as organizing teaching schedules, developing curricula and course syllabi, writing various reports, monitoring performance, developing materials, and coordinating exams. He also continues to teach several specialized subjects within this role, including those related to TESOL, assessment, curriculum design, public management, and policy.
His dedication and exceptional contributions have been formally recognized through multiple awards. Notably, he received consecutive Silver Teaching Award of the Year 2021 and Gold Teaching Award of the Year 2020 from the University of Cambodia for services performed beyond the call of duty. While pursuing his studies in South Korea, he was honored with both the 2011 Global Ambassador Fellowship Award and the 2011 Student Community Service Award from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. He also received an award for high participation in school activities from the University of Cambodia in 2009.
