Biography of Chanthorn Mao
My name is Chanthorn Mao. I was born in 1992 in Svay Rieng Province, Cambodia. I have always valued education, believing it can improve lives and communities. I earned two bachelor's degrees: one in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Western University and another in Business Administration (Management) from the National University of Management. I later completed a Master of Business Administration (International Business) at Panyapiwat Institute of Management in Thailand. I also received a Certificate in Higher Education from the National Institute of Education to enhance my pedagogical skills.
I began as an EFL teacher at Western University in 2014. Later, I became a public high school teacher at Anuwat High School of the National Institute of Education. I also teach part-time at the University of Cambodia and Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia. In addition to teaching, I consulted on projects supporting entrepreneurship, collaborating with the Ministry of Industry, UN-ESCAP, and GIZ to create guidelines for local entrepreneurs. I assisted young entrepreneurs in building sustainable food businesses in Battambang and promoted MSMEs in Cambodia. Furthermore, I engaged in academic research centred on economics and education, and I participated in training programs in English teaching, communication, entrepreneurship, and technology.
Throughout my journey, I have believed in the power of education and mentorship to inspire change. I remain committed to empowering others and contributing to Cambodia’s development through education.
